Jet Airways has announced the launch of an innovative in-flight entertainment (IFE) service in the Indian skies. With the launch of this service, Jet Airways has become the first airline in India to allow guests to stream a wide variety of video and audio content directly on their own devices such as mobile phones, tablets and laptops.

Passengers on board Jet Airways domestic flights can avail JetScreen, the airline's in-flight entertainment service directly on their mobile phones, tablets and laptops. JetScreen includes over 225 hours of video and audio content such as leading Hollywood and Indian movies, TV shorts, music from multiple genres, interactive games, as well as special children’s programmes.

Guests will also be able to experience a highly immersive 3D flight tracker, and access a wide range of destination-related information right at their fingertips.

A press release issued by Jet Airways states, "With an incredibly convenient, easy-to-operate, interactive user interface, JetScreen has been introduced on five Boeing 737 next-generation aircraft in the Jet Airways fleet that operate on key domestic and international routes. In the coming months, it will be rolled out in a phased manner on the entire Jet Airways Boeing 737 fleet."

Jet Airways' plans to eventually transform its in-flight entertainment experience into a fully-fledged, broadband-enabled Wi Fi connectivity (subject to regulatory approvals). The introduction of streaming is the first step in that direction. Once the full-fledged Wi-Fi service is implements, guests can surf the internet, check e-mail, stay connected on social media, get access to connecting flight information, real time travel services and destination deals.

"In order to access the onboard entertainment, guests will need to download the 'Airtime Player' application, available for free in all major App stores, on their Wi-Fi enabled personal devices. Once the application is successfully installed, guests must switch their devices to ‘Airplane Mode’ and select 'JetScreen' as their wireless network of choice. Once connected, launching the web browser enables access to the Inflight Entertainment Portal.", the release continued.

Jet Airways has introduced this state-of-the-art experience in collaboration with Global Eagle Entertainment Inc. - a global leader in media content, technology and connectivity solutions to the travel industry.
